The path to desired parenthood with the help of donated eggs

Treatment with donated eggs can be a suitable solution especially for women with significantly reduced ovarian reserve, women of higher reproductive age, patients after repeated unsuccessful IVF cycles, women after oncological treatment or patients with genetic risk who do not want to pass it on to a child.

The doctor always decides on the suitability of this method based on individual diagnostics and the patient’s overall health.

Treatment using donated eggs is one of the most successful methods of assisted reproduction. It is intended for women for whom it is not possible or appropriate to use their own eggs – for example, due to low ovarian reserve, older age, genetic burden, repeated unsuccessful IVF cycles or after premature ovarian failure.

Thanks to donated eggs, even women for whom the chance of conceiving with their own eggs would be very low can become pregnant. The entire process is carried out with maximum emphasis on safety, discretion, professionalism and an individual approach.

Egg donation is strictly anonymous by law in the Czech Republic. The donor and recipient cannot learn each other’s identities and anonymity is also maintained for the child born from assisted reproduction using donated gametes. This system protects the privacy of all parties involved and ensures a safe and transparent course of treatment.

How does treatment with donated eggs work?

In this method, eggs from a healthy donor are used for fertilization. They are fertilized with the sperm of the partner or donor and the resulting embryos are cultivated in an embryology laboratory. The selected embryo is then transferred to the patient’s uterus.

1.

Initial consultation and examination

The first step is a personal consultation with a doctor who will evaluate the patient’s health, previous treatment and examination results. Together we will discuss the treatment options and suggest the procedure that best suits your situation.

2.

Selection of a suitable donor

Egg donors undergo careful selection and comprehensive health, genetic and laboratory examinations. When selecting a donor, we ensure the best possible match between the donor and the recipient, taking into account important physical and biological characteristics. The goal is to ensure the most suitable conditions for successful treatment and future pregnancy.

In the Czech Republic, egg donation is available to healthy women, typically aged 18–35, who meet the legal requirements for donation, including mandatory medical, genetic, and gynecological examinations established by Czech law.

3.

Preparation of the uterine lining

The patient does not undergo hormonal stimulation of the ovaries or egg retrieval. The treatment is therefore usually less physically demanding than classic IVF. The main goal of the preparation is to create optimal conditions in the uterus for embryo reception.

4.

Egg fertilization and embryo cultivation

The donated eggs are fertilized with the sperm of the partner or donor using the ISCI method.

The embryos are cultivated in special media for 2-6 days before being introduced into the patient’s uterus. Embryologists continuously monitor their development and select embryos with the highest potential for implantation. High-quality embryos that are not used in the first transfer can be frozen and stored for future use. This eliminates the need to repeat the entire cycle for the next attempt.

5.

Embryo transfer

The highest-quality embryo is transferred into the patient’s uterine cavity using a thin catheter. The procedure is quick, usually painless and does not require anesthesia. After the transfer, the patient continues with the recommended hormonal support.

6.

Embryo cryopreservation

If more high-quality embryos are created, they can be frozen and stored for further use. This makes it possible to undergo another transfer without having to repeat the entire process from the beginning.

Sensitive approach and maximum discretion

We know that the decision to treat with donated eggs can be sensitive and emotionally demanding. Therefore, we emphasize not only high professionalism, but also a human approach, a safe environment and open communication.
